I often fly near the beach and over the open water. Usually the take off and landing spot is uneven, with either a lot of sand; or other debris that kicks up during takeoff and landing. I usually launch my drone from the carrying case. Very small, but an effective method. Additionally, there are drone landing pads, but that may not always be practical. Each drone is different and you may need to use another method. This blog is not a one size fits all, but it is meant to show you there is more than one way to take off and land. I use a DJI Phantom 4, so when landing in less than desirable conditions, I pluck it out of the air with my hand, and gently rest it on my forearm, similar to a bird landing on your arm. This requires a little hand, eye, and controller coordination. Be sure to have a firm grasp of the drone, and hold the left stick down until the motors stop running. Houston, the Eagle has landed. It really is that simple. However, if you do not feel comfortable using this technique then I wouldn't. Necessity forced me to us an alternate landing technique, "I Learned From That".
